 Faith-Based Approach to Development

The Hindu and Dharmic community is coming of age in America. It is connecting with America and needs to develop infrastructure capacity to serve. Seva (a sanskrit word for service) is community social

responsibility. HASC is working to make service and volunteering a defining part of Hindu American life and culture. Our goal is to increase civic engagement, to increase and promote volunteering and interfaith collaboration while addressing our nation's needs.

To empower the community and address concerns at the local and national levels, HASC is documenting service activities, liaising with government and interfaith groups to communicate the community's needs and enhance seva social responsibility. HASC is supporting development of "Seva Centers" as a lead example of social innovation. HASC aims to serve as a resource, repository and clearing house of relevant information to connect the community to America through seva.. Read our Mission

In the last two years, on college campus, temples, yoga studios and standalone in cities and towns, HASC has devised innovative programs and a unique faith based approach through UtsavSeva - Festivals of Service to serve many communities and to impact poverty as a service partner of Corporation for National and Community Service. HASC was formed in 2009 with the guidance of the White House Office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.  More.
